Day 8; Thu. 7/3, That's Customer Service

Post date: Jul 4, 2014 9:42:33 PM

After ambling about 30 miles from Max Meadows, VA through Rural Retreat, on a flat section of the county road, one of the links in my chain gave up. Unfortunately when it did so it caught in the front gear shifter (derailleur) bending it, so even though I carried a spare chain & successful replaced it, I'd be stuck in the low gears riding. Back in a small town called Draper, I talked with a bike repairmen named Thomas. When back in cell service, I gave him a call and he said to bring it in. Not only did he fix my bike, he drove to the adjacent town to pick up the needed part. Thanks Thomas! On the way to Draper we experienced one of those huge thunder storms common to Virginia. Tonight's lodgings, Hungry Mother State Park, which is big, beautiful and even has wi-fi. Amazing what camping means now.
