Day 12; Mon. 7/7, Rhythm of the Day

Post date: Jul 8, 2014 1:31:36 AM

Our typical day begins with the alarm about 6:10 am. We eat, pack and go to our starting point which has ranged from 25 yards to 25 miles; wherever we finished the day before. We confirm our lunch meet with Teresa, then start pedaling. Generally we try to eat a bigger meal at lunch, someplace where we sit and are served, but this isn't always possible so we've also just made sandwiches and sat under a tree by the road. After about an hour for lunch, we confirm our destination with Teresa and start pedaling. She's done a great job spending time talking with the campgrounds and motels we're using. We try to alternate camping and nicer lodging. So far this seems to be working.

Today was an easier day, riding just shy of 50 miles and only gaining about 4,000 feet. The weather continues to be great but a "damaging thunderstorm" is forecasted for tomorrow afternoon. We're just outside of Hazard, KY and began in Melvin, KY. Looking forward to Debbie joining our crew in two days.
