Strap Repair

Yes sure we can fix your bag straps... if we don't have anything to match the colour we will pull it apart and reinforce it from the inside of the strap with some webbing or similar to give it strength, but keep the existing outside so it looks nice... shall we do all 4 ... or 8 dolp!

Main Steps

  1. Unpick
  2. Glue strap together - where possible
  3. Reinforce
  4. Stitch

Main Steps Explained

Broken Strap on bag

Broken Strap removed from bag

1 Unpick

Just enough to get the job done

2 Glue strap together - where possible

To make look nice,

Using yellow glue, even though it's vinyl as glue is just to hold it all together while we stitch.

Unpicked and split apart

Webbing ready to go in

3 Reinforce

Webbing, suitcase side, leather, anything strong and fairly thin. Avoid a big bump where the webbing ends by staggering the ends. Lightly glue it together so it will stay lined up while you stitch it.

4 Stitch

Go in through a side pocket by unstitching a seam, Stitch in existing holes where possible when stitching strap back together and onto bag. Loosen tension when restitching pocket lining.

Webbing glued in

Getting stitched

Reasons Why

  1. Unpick - usually better than trying to tuck a piece in the side
  2. Glue strap together - where possible - looks better once done
  3. Reinforce - gives it the strength
  4. Stitch - hold it together longer than just glue
