Holes In Toes - Patching
Yes sure we can fix the holes in the toes of your shoes ... were you thinking
- on the inside or outside?
- Stitched or just glued?
Main Steps
1 Cut and skive patch
2 Glue patch and put in
3 Stitch
4 Have a good check for catchy edges
Main Steps Explained
1 Cut and skive patch
The thinner the leather the better ... with in reason! Keep the patch smaller rather than larger.
2 Glue patch and put in
Maybe remove and add more glue?
3 Stitch
On existing stitch lines where possible
4 Have a good check for catchy edges
Use your fingers and finger nails and have a good feel around the edges of the patches
Reasons Why
1 Cut and skive patch
If the patch is too big and or too thick it is uncomfortable on the toes and also can look bad from the outside
2 Glue patch and put in
Sometimes need to remove patch and reapply glue if you think the glue is all getting absorbed ... but not too much on mesh sneakers as the glue seeps through to the outside
3 Stitch
Gives strength especially where the hole is larger or where you aren't confident that the glue is going to hold.
4 Have a good check for catchy edges
Better now than when the customer gets home!
