Coloring Book Design

Elephant

For this project I was required to make a coloring book page. I was allowed to be as creative as I wanted, as long as it was not colored and could be colored. As soon as I was given the assignment I knew I wanted to do an animal of some sort. I chose to do an elephant because elephants are my favorite animal. I've liked elephants since I was really little so I thought that an elephant would be a cool choice.

As I began so sketch out my elephant's outline, with a 2H pencil, I realized that I wanted it to be more complex then just a plane elephant. I felt like it wouldn't be as interesting or fun of a coloring page. I then decided it should have decorations inside of it. Some of the decorations are abstract and some are representational. I was inspired by a Indian elephant with all the painting and markings the have on them. After finishing my elephant and all the designs on it I traced over my lightly drawn pencil with a thin black marker to make it stand out more. After doing that I erased any other pencil lines on the page.

This coloring page will be put in with others, drawn from other people in my class and turned into a coloring book. These coloring books will be donated to charity.
