A Subway Song

Autophobia - Fear of being alone

For my first project, A Subway Song, I created a scene of a subway station. In the station, there is a single gestural figure holding a balloon. I purposefully kept the entire piece this same gestural style, using water. I added fine and thick lines around some of the areas in order to add contrast and some detail. I kept the figure a pristine white, behind the black pen. The rest of the painting I had with faded color to get the whole vibe of the piece across. I wanted to play on the fact that usually subway stations are crowded and this figure is alone with its balloon.
