For this project, we had to create animals from observation using the technique of blind contour. Blind contour is when you use a pen or another non-erasable material to draw something using one continuous line and not looking at the paper. I had a plastic pig figure which I used for these drawings, each drawing from a different perspective each time.
After I drew the six pigs I decided to add some color. I used browns and pinks of water color to paint the insides of the pigs in a gestural manner. I then used a ruler to outline a border around each figure. I stayed outside of these lines and used greens and browns to make a grassy pasture looking background.
After i had all the colors done, I chose to push contrasts. I used a sharpie to outline the borders individually, then I decided to outline the full border so that the squares would over lap and come outside the border. Overall I think this piece turned out all right. I do not really like the color palette that I ended up with, and I wish I could have pulled the them of pigs in even further.
