The Game

This is my flag project. The purpose of the project was to create a new american flag with all the same aspects of an american flag but with a new spin on it. Basically it had to have stars and stripes as well as red, white, and blue. It was meant to have opaque non-valued colors as the flag does with solid "blocks" of color.

I made my flag with acrylics. I started with a large piece of canvas and drew a 7x4 inch box. this would end up making 28 little boxes. Each box I painted horizontally and vertically alternating Red, White, and Blue. I made my red with alittle black to make it darker, and my blue with alot because I wanted it to look navy. I had to put many layers on the squares to may the clear and even. I then had a small star stencil which I used to by tracing the stars on top if the boxes in a V and an up side down V on the board. I then went inside the pencil with paint alternating blue and white.

My take on the project was a sort of checkered pattern. I wanted it to look like the game board, and also I think it looks a lot like a quilt. I would want to improve my stars, making the lines more crisp, but i am very happy with the final result of the project.
