Leopards on the Move: Exploring Local Businesses
Students from the Welding, Construction Trades, and Auto Tech classes visited several local businesses on Thursday, October 8, including Mayo Furniture, Texarkana College’s Aviation Technology program, and Pharma Nobis in Nash, Texas.
During the tours, students explored business operations, learned about career opportunities, and heard from industry professionals about the daily responsibilities involved in their fields. The experience provided valuable insight into the working world and helped students see how the skills they develop in the classroom connect to real-world careers.
Sparks, Skills, and Competition
High school welding students traveled to Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Marshall, Texas, on October 9 to participate in a regional welding competition hosted by the Texas High School Welding Series. Students from approximately 25 high schools gathered to demonstrate their skills, test their abilities, and gain valuable hands-on experience.
The competition challenged students to showcase their welding techniques, precision, craftsmanship, and safety practices while learning from industry professionals. Events like this provide students with opportunities to build confidence, explore future career paths, and prepare for success in the skilled trades.
