This course will build upon the foundations of polite and casual speech established in Japanese 3. You will be able to converse in everyday spoken Japanese; you will also be introduced to formal and very formal Japanese, as well as more kanji, with an emphasis on recognizing commonly used kanji in Japanese newspapers. We will build on cultural aspects emphasized in Japanese 2 and 3, with a sustained emphasis on special projects to advance your learning.
