Weight Training

Weight Training is designed for students interested in increasing their strength, power, speed, agility, and overall health/fitness.  Individualized and intensive daily workouts will help build functional strength to enhance your well-being and athletic performance.  Participation and effort are expected daily from all students.  

Length: Semester  ●  Credit: 0.5  ●  Prerequisite: None

Diploma Credit Area: Physical Education (PE)

If you have already fulfilled your PE requirement, this course will transcribe as elective (EL) credit.

What can I expect in this class?

In Power Training we focus on advanced strength, power, agility, and flexibility training at an elite level on a daily basis with the goal of helping you become a better high school athlete. You will work as hard as you ever have and be pushed to develop your body physically. This is not a standard conditioning class.

What does a typical day in this class look like?

A typical day in Power Training starts with a quick stretch, followed by 40 minutes of focused and intense strength training and 25 minutes of dedicated agility and body movement.

What about homework?

Homework in Power Training consists of eating, hydrating, and getting enough sleep.

What about tests?

Power Training includes physical development tests in strength, power, speed, and agility.

You should have an understanding of weight room and training techniques and play high school sports.
