Week of Mar. 30 - Apr. 3
Week of Mar. 30 - Apr. 3
iPad Reminder:
Students are expected to come to school with their iPads charged to 80% or higher. We’ve noticed several students arriving with batteries under 20%, which requires charging during class and interrupts learning. If a student comes to school three or more days in a week below 80%, they will receive a written assignment and will not be able to take their iPad home. This may result in incomplete work if they cannot access their homework. Please help your child come prepared each day to ensure a smooth and productive learning experience! Thank you!

What we are Learning This Week
Math: Mrs. Bennett
This week in 4th grade math, we are beginning our work with equivalent fractions. Students will explore how the same whole can be divided into different-sized parts, yet still represent the same overall amount. Using visual models and number lines, they will build a conceptual understanding of why fractions like 2/3 and 4/6 are equal. For example, students will see that when a whole is divided into sixths instead of thirds, the pieces are smaller, so it takes more of them to represent the same quantity.
As we continue, students will look for patterns in equivalent fractions by examining how the denominator will be multiples (such as 3 becoming 6, 9, or 12). They will also learn how to generate equivalent fractions by multiplying or dividing both the numerator and denominator by the same number. This helps students understand not just how to find equivalent fractions, but why the value of the fraction remains the same.

I'm so proud of all the students coming together to research their saints and creating clever cereal covers for their Saint Cereal Box Project. They did a fabulous job! Thank you everyone who came to see them!
This week, students will participate in a Saints Madness bracket, where saints advance based on questions created from the information on each cereal box. We will most likely have to complete when we return from Spring Break.
Important Announcements:
3rd Trimester Service Hours and Reflections: Each student is asked to complete two service hours per trimester. Their 3rd Trimester Service Hours and Reflections are due Wednesday, May 13. This will be completed on Google Classroom. Optional: complete log on paper.

We will work on them in class next Monday (March 16th)
Several schools collect food for low-income students who might not otherwise have food over the weekends. The program is called Blessings in a Backpack. There is a link below that you and your student(s) can sign up for. The volunteers simply walk around to each item putting it in a bag. One location is Alex R. Kennedy Elementary which is close to Ascension.
