Skills we will be working on this week are:
Reading:
identify the themes of the story and explain how characters’ actions demonstrate specific story themes (hospitality, friendship, responsibility, irresponsibility)
identify literary devices such as, dialogue, narration, personification, and perspective (we have conversation on these topics as we read the chapters of the story)
Speaking/ Listening:
listen to a Read-Aloud for details that describe a character
discuss the main idea and details of a read-aloud text
Writing:
complete a graphic organizer to prepare for writing an opinion piece
draft and revise an opinion paragraph about how one specific character displays one of the 4 themes of the story
Language/Foundational Skills:
use syllabication to break written words into syllables
soft c/g spelling pattern
Homework: soft c/g worksheet (handed out Monday in class and should be in the takehome section in their binder)
