Skills we will be working on this week are:
Reading:
identify the themes of the story and explain how characters’ actions demonstrate specific story themes (hospitality, friendship, responsibility, irresponsibility)
ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for their answers
Speaking/ Listening:
determine the main idea and supporting details of a text read aloud
recount a story listening carefully to act out a character’s actions and feelings
describe how characters in a Read-Aloud demonstrate the story’s theme of hospitality
Language/Foundational Skills:
use syllabication to break written words into syllables
identify open, closed, magic e, and vowel team syllables (reading and writing words with long and short vowels)
Homework: Fluency passage- read out loud to an adult at least 4 times within the week. Turn in NEXT MONDAY 9/8 with parent initials.
(After mClass reading assessments are complete, some students will be receiving these weekly. They will come home every Wednesday along with the green sheets . However, since this is a short week, we will all complete one this week.)
