This week, we will continue to work on designing the blueprint of a gingerbread house! Students will use the dimensions of a graham cracker (12 cm x 6 cm) to accurately design a model to scale. Students will be able to use half of a graham cracker and a fourth of a graham cracker, but have to determine the dimensions of those parts. As students add to their blueprint they must calculate the area and perimeter of their gingerbread blueprints. They must keep in mind the Essential Question: How can I design a gingerbread house that doesn't exceed 342 square centimeters and has a perimeter less than 125 cm?
On Thursday, we will bring our blueprints to life using graham crackers and candy! Below is a signup genius link to help provide supplies.
I need 6 more boxes of graham crackers and some candy to make this possible! If you are able to send any any of these items, that would be really helpful! I will make the icing. (:

This week students will have two Simple Solutions lessons. Like November, they will continue to have 3 Reflex sessions per week as part of their homework leading up to Christmas break. Maintaining this routine is essential, as it helps us stay on track to meet our goal of achieving full fluency through the 10s by the end of 4th grade. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting strong math habits at home!
Homework: 12/15 - 12/19
