How are major storms and the oceans connected?
This lesson examines the relationship between oceans and severe weather and climate related precipitation events. The oceans store both water and heat, and the interactions of the atmosphere with the ocean can generate some of the most powerful and devastating weather conditions known- hurricanes and related storms. This lesson will discuss the formation, features and impacts of hurricanes and other coastal storms. Additionally, it will examine the role of ocean/atmosphere interaction in the seasonal rainy seasons that have become known as "monsoon."
