Unit Plan: Block 2
This unit further narrows the focus established in the previous unit, putting specific attention to our own group of mammals, the primates. The key characteristics and evolutionary patterns of this order will be investigated, with attention given to the role of geographic distribution and its influence on specific qualities. From this, students will begin to examine the field of Anthropology, building an understanding of both how and what is studied in determining the patterns and results of human evolution. The fossil record is incomplete and there is much that is open to interpretation, so students will be exposed to several of the critical factors involved in a major debate in modern science.
