Unit Plan:
This unit changes the focus of study for the students. After exploring the structure and function of genetics at the molecular level, now they will investigate the large scale and long term impacts of genetic changes. Evolution is the change in organisms over time resulting from the accumulation of small shifts occurring in the DNA. The students will review the history of the development of the theory of natural selection and then examine how modern science has identified both the evidence and causes of evolution in the formation of new species.
