Principal investigations are based on school yard project, but it should encourage broader focus and research
Keep a "research journal" and collect anecdotal comments, etc. - follow ethical research practices (1/2)
- Post-test should be administered within 10 days of completing the fifth section
Requires consent from parent and student for participation (ROSE survey, pre/post) --> These should be collected and sent to Paula/Stephanie
Assign Activities will automatically save, but any changes made under Manage Activities need to be saved
* When you have selected activities, you can then edit text/content
Customizing Lessons in ITSI portal (you can also start with a blank template using the "Create ITSI Activity" button)
1. Open the copy of the activity and it creates a copy- each section of the activity is available to edit individually, must be saved
- this can be private (but still assignable), or public
- every lesson you copy/create can not be deleted! -this is true for the classes you create as well, but students can be added/removed
2. Once you have copied/edited -activity will be found in the gray "MY ACTIVITIES" at the bottom of the activities list (OTHER ACTIVITIES contains publicly shared by other individuals that are public)
3. Inserting Images -"Images Tab" - open these in a separate tab/window and browse back and forth
- use the image URL
- image must be "Public Domain," "Open Source," " Creative Commons"
- Create Image (using your own) - uploading images should be smaller size and .jpg, .png (not .tif)
4. Inserting Videos, Tables, Charts- "Interactives Tab" - you need to know the name of the video from the interactives list to insert it from drop-down menu
- tables are not editable - could be sent to Concord and added
- your own videos could also be sent to Concord

Summer 2017 (2 days)
VideoPaper -access to this will be part of the spring course as an app on the left side of schoology
- one assignment with video (5 minute maximum) and the associated documentation will need to be submitted in the spring
- each segment of the documentation can be correlated with a portion of the video using the "edit timing" component. Text segments and timing need to be edited separately
- control of sharing by email, but must be published for others to be able to view video
^one teacher used students from the video/media tech for videoing the activities (need for consent for videotaping students, included in the form)
