In this we will see how to collect the assets and put them in the Project folder.
But first: Why we need this... to know what we have use, and because we are international company we have storage server that is syncing and we need to have access to same projects and files.
Step 1:
Check if we have missing Assets (using Relink Bitmaps script)
Open the script (it must be there installed by default if it's not ask IT department). It will ask some question (like update and support)
If you don't have any missing assets the red zone should be empty, if you have (like in this case) you will have the names of the missing assets in the red zone and clicking on them will bring more info like name, object and path where it supposed to be (in blue zone you can select and copy parts of the info, you need this info to find the assets).Â
Find, copy and paste the missing assets in folder you know (preferably - Maps in project folder).
Next click on Browse (1) navigate to the folder with the missing assets (copy/paste the path is working here), check if Low Memory/Huge Scene (2) is checked and then click Relink (3).
Job is done when red zone is clean/there are no missing maps.
Step 2:
Collecting the Assets (using Asset Collector Script)
Open it
Click Browse (1) navigate to where you want assets to be collected (do not copy and paste the path! it will collect them on main of the drive, personally i have one folder on my desktop named collected where i collect all my maps it is the easiest place to navigate to and remember to clean it when done). Check if everything else is unchecked and click OK (2). Max will blink, white screens, not responses etc. usual stuff.
Step 3:
CleanUp
Asset collector script is copying everything that is listed in the build in Asset Tracker so in folder where you have collected the maps you will/may have: The Scene file, Xrefs, Proxies, Renders (.exr), large collections of textures like to use with multi texture (it is good if they go in separate folder in Project Maps etc.) so clean it up what is not belong to go in Project maps. If you chose to collect in Local folder after the cleaning copy the assets to project folder.
Step 4:
Relink (using Relink Bitmaps)
Open it
Check All Bitmaps(1)(in the red zone will list all assets used in the scene), then Low Memory/Huge Scene, Ignore case and search subfolder (like in the image). Click Browse(2) navigate to project maps folder (copy/paste path works here) then click Relink (3).
Max will do his thing (blink, white screens, not responses etc. usual stuff).
Step 5:
Save
Don't use Save option, instead use: file/Save As/ (remember the scene file in step 3, yep max is working now in collected folder, so you need to resave it in project folder)
Step 6:
Happy Rendering!
