Born 28 November 1905 to Katherine Alice & William Patrick Smith. Born at Yackandandah. William a groom. Parents married in the same year Margaret was born. Margaret was the eldest of eight children.

Date of qualification – November 1932

June 1933 Margaret is at Wellsford Street, Yackandandah. Most likely the Smith family home.

Married Hubert Vincent Hoy, an electrician, in 1938.

December 1944 is at 50 Shoobra-road, Elsternwick, married name Hoy. 50 Shoobra Road was the family home of the Hoys. Margaret & Hubert lived at Shoobra Road for most of their married life.

In 1964 Hubert was president of Ozanam House which provided meals for destitute men, along with clothing, boots, medical assistance etc.

Hubert died August 1975. Born 1903.

HOY, Margaret Ellen (Smith)

Died peacefully on 23rd August 1997 at Bethany Nursing Home Camberwell, late of Shoobra Road, Elsternwick. Wife of Hubert (dec.) mother of Michael, Paul, Phillip and Mary (Sheehan).

Mother in law of Catherine, Dianna, Wendy and Garry, grandmother of Stephen an Tracey, Anhtony, Martin, Simon and Frances; Belinda, Jane, Rachel and Madeline’ David, Felicity and Tom; Matthew, Vincent and Clare and Genevieve; great grandmother of Jarryd, Justin, David, Braedan and Anna.

Blessed are the pure in heart.
