Thomas Robinson
1810-1875
Thomas Robinson, the younger and lesser-known brother of multiple Classic-winning jockey James 'Jem' Robinson, made a name for himself in his own right in France. Riding and training there for Lord Henry Seymour in the early days of French racing, he remained until the disastrous revolution of 1848 prompted his return to Newmarket, where he took charge of a small string of horses belonging to Mr Rush and others.
Born in 1810, Thomas achieved his most significant success in England when he won the 1832 Goodwood Stakes on Lucetta.
