Roddy Reid

1944 - 2007


Roderick James Reid was born on November 22, 1944, and rode his first winner, Johnny Fortune, at Ayr on March 16, 1963.

He won the 1967 County Hurdle on Cool Alibi and the 1968 Victor Ludorum on Wing Master. He also rode the prolific winner Past Master.

After training for a short while, he worked for 15 years with Roger Fisher as Head Groom.

He then briefly ran a pub in the Lake District before moving to Lambourn to be Head Groom to William Muir.


Roddy Reid died of cancer at Swindon on October 7, 2007.
