Les Reynolds

Article by Alan Trout

Leslie Richard Reynolds rode eight winners under National Hunt rules during the first half of the 1990s. All were trained by Martin Pipe, for whom he rode as a conditional jockey.

The first came at Hereford on August 31, 1991, when Acrow Lad survived a bad blunder at the third last flight to land the Yarsop Conditional Jockeys’ Novices’ Hurdle by five lengths.

It was more than a year before he won again. Although he did not ride that many winners in the next three seasons, he did pick up a couple of decent bumpers at Ascot and Kempton.

His final success was at Worcester on March 29, 1995, when The Angel Leek took the lead with two furlongs to go and beat 18 rivals in the Bonusprint Conditional Stakes N.H. Flat Race. The winning margin was eight lengths.

Les had no more wins although he did have the occasional ride for the next two seasons.

Les Reynolds’ winners were, in chronological order:

1. Acrow Lad, Hereford, August 31, 1991

2. Heathfield Gale, Doncaster, December 11, 1992

3. Sweet N’Twenty, Ascot, February 10, 1993

4. Miss Equilla, Wincanton, January 13, 1994

5. Punters Overhead, Kempton Park, February 26, 1994

6. Luv-U-Frank, Ascot, April 6, 1994

7. Crosula, Exeter, September 7, 1994

8. The Angel Leek, Worcester, March 29, 1995
