Paddy Reddin

Article by Chris Pitt

Irish-born National Hunt jockey Patrick Reddin held a licence for five seasons in Britain, accumulating eight winners during that time.

He rode his first winner on Victory Salute, who made all to win a Stratford selling chase on May 9, 1957. He also won on him at Newton Abbot on the second day of the 1957/58 campaign and again at Southwell in October.

The following season he won a Warwick selling chase on Pearl Stone and a handicap chase on Anniversary, both trained by Cheltenham permit holder George Hackling.

Paddy’s last three winners, two on chaser Pyroughfare and one on handicap hurdler Dealer, were all owned and trained by Geoff Turk at Charlton King, near Cheltenham. He retired at the end of that 1959/60 season.
