Nat Robinson

1881‭ – ‬1921‭

Born in South Kensington on June 6, 1881,‭ Nathaniel Henry ‬Robinson had his first public ride aged fourteen (Queen of Brilliants, at Derby, September 4, 1895) when apprenticed to Richard Marsh. His first winner was The Weevil at Kempton on October 5, 1895.

He won the‭ ‬1896‭ ‬Cambridgeshire on Winkfields Pride,‭ ‬trained by his older brother,‭ ‬William.‭ ‬Nat Robinson had ridden the horse in a secret trial which indicated that he could beat,‭ ‬at the weights,‭ ‬the stable’s other entry.‭ ‬He won the Cambridgeshire in a common canter,‭ ‬starting at‭ ‬5/1.‭ ‬

When Winkfield’s Pride won the following season’s Lincoln and Doncaster Cup,‭ ‬Nat Robinson was replaced in the saddle by Mornington Cannon.‭ ‬Robinson won the Lincoln on Prince Barcaldine‭ (‬1898‭) ‬and the Kempton Park Jubilee Handicap‭ (‬twice‭) ‬on Clwyd and Dinna Forget.‭ ‬All were trained by his brother William.‭

In February,‭ ‬1921,‭ ‬Nat Robinson was admitted to Lambeth Infirmary suffering from tuberculous problems.‭ ‬He died at 126, Brook Street, London on August 29, 1921.
