International Peak-baggers' Tables 2021

P300m

HoFMeister’s Report

A hundred people have been recorded in the P300m Table for 2021 (seventy-four in 2020), and six deceased peak-baggers - three in the Hall of Fame and three in the Roll of Honour.

A new feature in the 2021 P300m Table is a separate Progress Register for junior peak-baggers.

There was one new entrant into the Hall of Fame - Duane Gilland, who appears in the Table for the first time in 2021.

In terms of relative position in the Hall of Fame, Michael Graupe made the biggest advance in the rankings, moving up eleven places.  In the Progress Register, Oscar Argudo achieved the biggest annual total for 2021, mostly with peaks in France, putting him in striking distance of Hall qualification in 2022.  The most prominent peak he climbed in 2021 was the the iconic Monte Viso 3841m, P2062m in the Italian Alps.  Mihai Giurgiulescu came close to Hall entry in 2021, but just missed out due to insufficient foreign peaks to claim the Large Country Exemption.  He needs two more to cross the threshold.

Nineteen Awards have been achieved - Gold by one, Silver by six, and Bronze by twelve people.  Bob Packard remains the only gold member, increasing his seemingly unassailable lead.  Brian Kalet gained a Silver Award this year, and a Bronze for Josef Nuernberger, Kathy Rich and Andy Boos.  Of these three, only Josef managed to climb any foreign peaks in 2021.

Overall, it was impressive set of achievements, in what has been another difficult year.

I wish everyone success in achieving their bagging goals this year, whatever and wherever they may be.
