P-Top 100

P-Top 100 HoFMeisters’ Report

This is the third year we have highlighted the achievements of mountaineers who focus on the most prominent peaks in the world. It’s a list of continuing interest to BwB participants, with forty-three members reporting more than ten ascents of these peaks spanning the planet.

Welcome to the six new Entrants: Adam Walker, Steven Song, Barbara Lilley, Mark Spencer, Mathias Ihl, Mihai Giurgiulescu and Daryn Dodge.  Barbara Lilley recorded her first P-Top 100 ascent in 1972, when she climbed Aconcagua. It was probably much snowier than it is now.

We have our first Gold Award to make! This is to Petter Bjørstad, who has now ascended over half (fifty-two) of the top one hundred most prominent mountains in the world.  This is indeed a great achievement.

David Hart has moved up the silver category rapidly this year with seven, totalling forty-seven overall, so it’s possible Petter could have company next year.

Adam Walker is the highest new entrant at twenty-four, with eleven in 2023, resulting in a Bronze Award to him.  Steven Song has also done eleven new mountains on the Top 100 list this year, including a testing ascent of Mount Everest last May.

Volcan Chimborazo, 6267m, P4122m, the Ecuador high point, has been busy this year with three BwB members logging it.
