The BwB Journal - May 2022

This is the first edition of the BwB Journal, a new addition to the website since it was launched in March 2022.

In this edition six articles have been kindly contributed so far, all by current members of the BwB Forum.  No common theme emerges through all of them, apart from a concentration on the uplands at the western end of the Eurasian Continent.

Click on the title below to go to the article, or use the side tool-bar.

Hopefully, as 2022 progresses further, there will be more contributions, so that other continents are also represented.  Please pick up your pen/keyboard and compose, or search for something you have already written that you think might be of interest to the worldwide peak-bagging community.

A common theme does run through the first three articles, as they concern three countries under threat from a much larger neighbour – Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.  It is one thing to ignore borders when it comes to peak-bagging, but quite another when armed forces are despatched across them.

Peak-bagging continues to remain challenging, compared with former times.  Climate change increases weather risks, COVID has not disappeared, and war in Europe is causing great suffering, economic stresses and travel disruption.  However, as I have written before, peak-baggers are hardy and opportunistic people who are seizing every opportunity, both at home and abroad, to head for the hills and mountains.

I wish you all a safe and fruitful bagging half-year, whether it be summer or winter where you are.
