International Peak-baggers' Tables 2021

P1500m

HoFMeister’s Report

Fifty-one people (forty-two in 2020) have been recorded in the second edition of the P1500m Table for 2021 and ten deceased peak-baggers - six in the Hall of Fame and four in the Roll of Honour.

The most notable P1500m peak-bagging total this year was from “Rockinstraw”, with eleven Ultras, from trips to east Africa and Alaska.  Eight other people added seven or more Ultras – Kathy Rich and Michael Graupe added nine.  Connor McEntee, David Hart, and James Barlow added eight, while Josef Nuernberger, Petter Bjorstad and Seán Caulfield, a new entrant for 2021, added seven.

Two new medals were awarded this year.  There was a silver for “Rockinstraw”, and new entrant Duane Gilliland a bronze.  In total, twenty-two Awards have been achieved to date - Gold by two, Silver by five, and Bronze by fifteen people.

Examining all the historic data, the following speed streaks of P1500-metre peaks draw notable attention:

All of these Ultra-bagging records were set by one person - Rob Woodall.

On a personal level, I count my lucky stars to have fallen into the prominence community at a young age.  In my mid twenties, I was invited to join trips with people like Ken Jones, Eric Noel, Duane Gilliland, Greg Slayden, Edward Earl, and Adam Helman.  Before I could fully grasp the importance of prominence, I secretly thought of them as the "prominence nerds" and even teased them on one occasion.  What I respected was their determination, stamina, and experience skill-set.

Twenty-seven percent of the entrants to this hall are my personal hiking companions.  This illustrates that, even with all the mountains in the world, the committed prominence community at large remains relatively small.  But it is growing.  It has been a pleasure and honor to help work on this project.
