P600-metre Peaks

This mid-prominence P-category has been around since 2003-04 and has become popular among international peak-baggers.  They are generally known as 'The Majors'.  There is a good distribution across the world, even in countries with lower mountain ranges.  It is the accepted metric near-equivalent of the US P2000ft category.  Peaks are often 10km to 20km apart in major upland areas, and so avoid long hikes or drives between them.  There are, for example, 159 in France.  P600-metre peaks often have established, or at least described, trails up them.  This P-category includes all the Fourteen Eight-Thousanders – Lhotse 8516m, the 8000er with lowest prominence, is P610m.

There are estimated to be over 32,000 P600m peaks across the world.

This Table has a Hall of Fame and Progress Register, and also a Roll of Honour

To enter the P600m BwB Hall of Fame, you need to have reached the summits of at least 125 peaks worldwide.

Bronze Awards are given at 300 peaks, Silver at 600 peaks and Gold at 1,000 peaks worldwide.

The current P600m HoFMeister is Deividas Valaitis.
