I started with a blind contour drawing of my face, hand, and the person next to me face. From there I envisioned the ocean and land I then did a birds-eye view of what the ground looks like with roads and villages. I then added little islands to the main drawing to make it easier for people to understand what it is I was drawing the/painting. Some people interpreted it as a motherboard to a computer I can see that kind of the many different greens and the little dots kind of look like the circuitry to a computer.
The reason I made this is that I just got inspired by flying in planes and seeing the world from way up above. So it gave me the idea to paint/draw it. I also did it because the jagged lines reminded me of the coast and how jagged it is and how many indents there.
The materials that I used to make this are sharpies, pencils, colored pencils, and watercolors. The reason I used colored pencils instead of watercolors is that they are easier to control and I think that colored pencil gives a brittle look like grass or the ground they are not as soft. The reason I used watercolors for the sea is that water is free-flowing and I just did brush strokes in all directions giving it the feel of how the oceans current works they are also smoother like water.
Overall I feel like this is my second best work that I have done this year so far I think my bear is the best thing I have done so far. I really like the greens that I used and how the islands I made came out and the roads and houses the one thing I don't like is how you can still kind of make out the faces but overall I think I did a pretty good job.
