Sustained Investigation Four

12x12

Outside of class, I worked on making a combination of clothing that represented the Space Shuttle mission and Nike. This project took longer than I would have hoped it to. The idea of this was to use Nike's logo as more than just the swoosh that is normally seen. I used the swoosh to make the fire that would be coming out of the rockets when the shuttle would launch. I also used it to represent meteorites or comets on the pocket of the pants. I then took the NASA logo and tried to deconstruct it to create a form that represents two of their logos into one. I also cut out parts of it with the NASA logo to give it a grittier look and just add some texture to it.

How I created, this was on Adobe Illustrator. To do this project, I used several reference images. This was almost all drawn by hand minus the NASA/Nike logos, which I tried to use to make a new form or change how it usually looks. I am pretty proud of how this came out. I think that I chose pretty good colors for both articles of clothing. The pants I modeled of sweatpants/space suit pants.

This project is really strong. I feel the forms I created are interesting and things that you do see in the current fashion industry, mainly within streetwear. I think I could improve on by adding a little more color to the pants, but overall I feel it came out really strong.
