In class, I worked on my circle project, which was composed of many small circles about half an inch in size. They were cut out of old National Geographic magazines of oceans and articles. I used them to make waves on the surface of the sea. I used different colors of blue so that it did not feel repetitive. I also added large circles in the background and layered smaller ones on top of them. This created a nice depth effect on the waves and added a pattern. The sky I did not want to make out of circles as I felt it would be hard to tell the circles of the waves from the air. So I painted the sky on using black paint and used white to make the stars.
The materials that I used were paper, pencils, and paint. The paper I used to make the waves in my image. Before laying down the clips of paper, I outlined where I was going to place the circles. After I put down the paper, I painted on the sky with black paint and sprinkled stars onto the background.
My favorite part of the project was the sky. I love how the stars came out even though it seems so simple I love the effect of them. I also love the arch of the first wave; it just came out so well. If I could change anything, it would be the second wave I think I could have given it more shape.
