Sustained Investigation Eight

10x6

This project took a lot more time than I thought it would, and I learned some new skills while making it. The shoe is based on a Nike Dunk and is supposed to collab between Krispy Kreme and Nike. The idea behind this project was to do a design that is similar to what Nike has been doing recently. Like with shoes that are designed after Ben & Jerry's ice cream. What I really tried to focus on first was getting the form of the sneaker then working on getting the proper colors that are featured around the Krispy Kreme chain. I also created certain styles that are iconic with that brand, like using the green circles on their doughnut box for the upper. Then also fading colors like part of the shoe is glazed over like icing.

What I used to create this work was Illustrator, and I used many images to really understand what the Brand Krispy Kreme represents. I started with a basic sketch, then erased the outside, slowly feeling in with color and aligning the circles into rows. I then worked on reforming any off-center lines to make sure it all fit in.

The hardest part and something I am still learning to draw are laces. They are a real struggle for me, and I am still trying to figure out how to get them better. I think the toe box and the design idea came out as well as the design idea behind using the green circles from the doughnut box as the main form for the upper.
