We were given a random arrangement of black paint or ink on a piece of paper for class. Since I was fully online, I had my mom put paint randomly on the part of the paper. What first came to mind were black holes, so I added bright oranges, yellows, and reds. This made it, so the black really popped, and then I added white paint to act as stars at the top and started adding in things like comets and other space-looking objects.
I used to paint and HB pencils to create the sketch. I used HB pencils to outline the borders for the color and then filled it in with paint. After that, I added highlights of black around the black holes. This was to add more depth to the image, and from there, I added stars by splashing paint over the sky.
I probably could have done more to the orange and red to make it more interesting. I do like the saturation of the color and how deep the orange came out. Overall I enjoyed this project and like having the challenge of having to make something out of a figure that is not purposeful.
