Sustained Investigation Nine

This shoe I was inspired by Moon boots and the form that they have. Moon boots or the ones that were used on the Apollo 11 missions have this really chunky and baggy look to them as well as this thick blue sole. I really wanted to capture this look of a blocky shoe that also seems like it could be worn on the street. I focused mainly on the sole and trying to feature this thick sole that seems like it was like the Apollo 11 boots.

When creating this on Illustrator I focused really heavily on the form mainly of the sole. I tried to also think about color a lot also I did not want it to be all one shade of gray or blue. I wanted to have some varation so I skewed the gray color on parts with a deeper blueish gray to a lighter almost red shade. This made it so it could contrast a little better with the solid gray middle and red back. I then tried breaking the shoe up with sections so that it could have a little more form.

I think I could improve the line work for the back of the shoe and maybe around the top. I also think connecting another brand could be an interesting experiment with this and seeing where that takes me. I am proud with the overall design and mainly the sole of the shoe.
