Observational Drawing Sketch

I worked on this project in and out of class. I got my starting few character sketches by using people from class who modeled and then from there came up with others through ones I had in photos I had taken. Drawing figures or people has always been a struggle for me while I can not say these are perfect in anyway I do feel it is improvement from my drawings in the past. I really tried to focus on position of torso and legs since I feel that I have always struggled with getting the chest and body to sink up well with the legs of the figure I may be drawing. Once getting my eight basic sketches down I tried doing some touch up work as well as adding in defining pieces like clothes or wrinkles in pants.

This project was just using HB pencils that I used to get the starting sketch as well as making the dark lines that made figures pop more or highlight parts that I thought would have more depth. I also did shading work in some cases and worked on trying to get some kind of texture or form that was different than just pure white space.

While I do feel this is a improvement by far from drawings I have done in the past and I also feel I understand the process of sketching figures better. I still have along way to get and a lot more I think I can improve upon in the future if I decided to do more work with people or figures. I am however proud of the connection that I made between torso and legs which has been much better in these drawings that in past works.
