Thank You For My Service

Thank You For My Service, by Mat Best, PenguinPenguin 2019

UGE BOOK, UGE.  Bad title, but UGE book, and funny.  Seems that Mat wrote a military memoir that works for the rest of us.

Although Thank You for My Service is a real memoir, readers will enjoy up close and detailed cinematic views of action, right along with the Army Rangers.  You'll feel what its like to contract and suffer a skin infection in a swamp, to kick down doors in Ramadi - bam!, and to blow up a truck full of enemy soldiers.

But it's not all winning.  Readers will start to see the sober life of post-action military veterans re-entering the civilian world.  When the enemy becomes self-doubt or despair, or complex PTSD, what happens next?  For vets and families entering this strange territory, Thank You For My Service may help.

If you love America and the guys who fight for it, you will want to read this powerful book.  We're not talking WWII where the results are in and the good guys won - we looking at some some difficult but powerful events and the people who lived them.
