Influencers and Revolutionaries

Influencers & Revolutionaries, How Innovative Trailblazers, Trends and Catalysts Are Transforming Business, by Sean Pillot De Chenecey, Kogan Page Inspire 2020

Of course it's difficult to discern where this book fits now:  BC (before coronavirus)?, or DC (during coronavirus), as we to see who steps up to quickly address medical needs in the US - masks, gloves, ventilators, gloves, and meds.  What we need - influencers, revolutionaries, hard-ass  leaders - probably won't appear from the usual places - government, for example.  The innovators and trailblazers who stood their ground and proved software and AI solutions are still out there, of course, and they will continue their inroads long after this catastrophe fades, but it sure looks like we've been handed a whole world of new challenges.

And right now we need more.  De Chenecey describes well what characteristics identify "the right movers" for right now - they are the ones who will:

1. question and confront

2  look and listen - be aware of cultural signals and market dynamics

3. research and develop.  Here the author emphasizes the essential analytics to specifically target new markets, new needs, new consumers

4. collaborate and utilize.  "... think like Don Tapscott"

5.  Be a good corporate citizen.  "Only a few years ago, when asked to identify an extraordinary figure who was an 'Influencer and revolutionary' many people would have thought of an individual like Elon Musk, who created a radical new range of consumer products, and in doing so, made better things.... But in today's world, I'd like to highlight someone who, quite simply is the most important 'influencer and revolutionary' of our era.  Crucially, instead of 'just' being interested in making better things, she takes a more profound approach, and wants to make things better for humanity...Greta Thunberg"!!!
