Maroon Award
The Maroon Award is intended to celebrate students who make Ridgewood High School a better place.
The award recognizes students who work hard toward changes in behavior and grades for the better, commit random
acts of kindness without expecting recognition, and do the right thing when no one is looking.

Pictured below are the honorees and those who submitted nominations on their behalf.

RHS Choir Winter Concert

The RHS Choir Department held their Winter Concert on Wednesday, December 15th in the Campus Center. For many, this was their first formal choir performance in two years. The students were very excited to be able to perform again for their families. Attached are the concert recordings, program, and virtual multimedia program created by the students.
Their new choir director, Ms. Cardillo, is extremely proud of their performances and all their hard work!

In the Classroom

Freshman F.O.C.U.S.

Mr. Nyhuis, Mr. Pizzuto, and Mr. Bailey visited each Freshman F.O.C.U.S. class last week to ensure that all 9th graders feel comfortable going to them for anything they may need throughout their journey at RHS.
They shared personal stories to allow the kids to feel more comfortable with them. Did you know Mr. Nyhuis is one of 9 siblings? Did you know
Mr. Pizzuto is an organist who has played at St. Patrick’s Cathedral?
Did you know Mr. Bailey wanted to be a meteorologist when he was younger?

Club Happenings

Badminton Club

Badminton Club is accepting students of all levels and grades who would like to participate in doubles league play. The club takes place in Gym 1 during unit lunch on Wednesdays. A league just began with a total of 13 teams participating. Contact Mr. Kay in the Wellness Department if you're interested in playing in the next league which will start around mid-February/early March.

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society ran its annual Holiday Gift drive, raising over $400 at RHS! NHS members purchased gifts that will be donated to the children at Valley Hospital. Thank you all for your support and generosity! Have a great holiday!

Project Interact

Project Interact leaders present Mrs. Sieck with a $550 check for Honor Flight.

Project Interact leaders present a $200 check to club member, Shriya, for her Konnekt project.

Crafting for a Cause

Recently, the Crafting for a Cause Club had a holiday craft fair! The members sold handmade items such as bracelets, earrings, necklaces, scarves, and more! All the money will go towards buying gift cards for the teens at Valley Hospital. To acquire the gift cards, we partnered with the RISe program who are practicing life skills and are walking to shops in town to pick them up. We are so happy that we can help each other out! Also, the Club had amazing support from Project Interact, and they are generously giving us $200 to help our cause. We want to take the opportunity to thank them, again, for all the help they have given us. By selling our crafts, we made $150 added to the money from Project Interact, we have a total of $350!! Thank you to everyone who crafted, bought, or donated money. We really appreciate it! The Club leaders will be dropping off the gift cards to Valley Hospital after school on Friday.
