The students were able to participate in several stations that involved challenging tasks for individuals who require occupational services. Students learned about what it is to be an occupational therapist and explored ways occupational therapists assist people.

In the Classroom

Power Grid Study in Physics

Physics students in Dr. Labowsky's classes studied electromagnetism in building a wind turbine and examining electricity feeding to the power grid of Ridgewood Theme Park in a 3D model.

Pictured: Ava Leonarz, Anna Williams, and Jonathan Amos with their wind turbine and Charlotte Ran and Lily Johnson with their 3D model electric grid.

Wellness

The Driver Education teachers would like to thank Detective Mormino for attending their sophomore classes last week as part of the unit on impaired driving. Mock traffic stops and field sobriety tests were played out and the consequences, penalties, and laws associated with being charged with a DUI were discussed. The tips offered to the students included being cooperative, respectful, and courteous to the investigating officer.

Science (Career Pathways in Medicine)

Career Pathways in Medicine students learned how to conduct a 'blood draw' (venipuncture) using technology secured by The Jones Family Donation, a local endowment that supports the study of science and medicine.

French Club

Bonjour RHS! At our recent meeting, we learned all about Francophone countries. Do you know what Francophone means? It’s a descriptor of a country or person who speaks French as a national or mother tongue language! You might be thinking about Canada, and you would be correct! Other countries include Haiti, Luxembourg, and Belgium. For our next project, we are excited to make videos about our favorite desserts. Let us see your favorite cakes and cookies next time by joining us. If you are interested, do not hesitate to contact Madame Palumbo. À bientôt!
