Excerpt from an email sent to district staff on 4/25/25:
There have been some questions about next year's calendar so we have put together the Professional Development Schedule for 2025-2026.
There are a couple of things to note as they are different than our most recent past calendars:
In addition to working one "floating" day during the week of August 11, all teachers will be involved in a professional learning day on August 13. This day is in place of the staff development day we have had in May in the past. There is no staff development day in May 2026.
There is no school for students during Thanksgiving week (November 24-28), HOWEVER, November 24 IS a staff development day. Staff will have November 25-28 off.
Students will not have school on October 10, but staff WILL have a staff development day. Conferences should NOT be scheduled on this day. Teachers will schedule conferences October 6-9. (In recent years this looked the same way on the calendar "No School-Staff Development" but teachers were NOT required to come in if conferences were already done. In 2025-2026, teachers WILL be required to come in for staff development. It is because of working this day that staff have November 25 off.)
On March 6, the calendar says "No School-Staff Development", but this IS a day off for teachers if conferences have been completed prior to this date.
Teachers will need to fill out report cards, look at spring data, and complete EE documents outside of a staff development day as the last staff development day on the calendar is February 16 (aside from the comp day on March 6).
These changes to the calendar are due to the feedback that was collected on a staff survey that was filled out earlier in the year. Some of this may be confusing. You may want to save this email so you can refer to it in the future.
