Directions - Google Drive - Transfer Google File Ownership
It is common to share a Google document but it may be useful to go further and transfer ownership which gives the full rights of controlling that document to a new account.
Step 1
Transferring Ownership requires you first share the file with a specific person/account by following directions on the Google File Access Permission page.
Step 2
After the document has been shared with a person return to the share settings.
Step 3
Select the Down arrow in the box next to the individual's name.
Step 4
In the menu that appears select 'Transfer Ownership'. You will then need to select 'Yes' in the message that warns you the new owner may restrict or block your access to the document.
