An 'Outline' in Aristotle is a combination of settings that allow or block URLs, Apps, or limit the number of sites a student can have open. Teachers must first 'Create an Outline' before they can apply it to a specific class, student, or apply it to a schedule. Outlines are used for specific reoccurring situations like when a teacher wants to only allow specific sites, such as a specific resource while students take an online test or if they want to allow a specific list of fun sites on a reward day. A teacher should consider following directions for 'Filters' if they have one or two sites to add or block whenever students are in their classroom.
Step 1
Open Aristotle
Login to Aristotle and select the 'OPEN CLASSROOM' button for the class you would like to set limits upon.
Step 2
Choose a Group
If you want to limit specific student(s) during a live session, toggle the Multi-Select button so it says it is on and select the students you would like to limit.
If you would like this to apply to all students, toggle the Multi-Select button so it says it is off.
Step 3
Apply Outline
Select the 'Apply Outline' button.
Step 4
Select an Outline
Find the name of the Outline you would like to apply to your group and select the blue 'Apply' icon to its right. If you do not see a suitable Outline you can select the green 'CREATE OUTLINE' icon and start follow directions on Step 3 of the 'Aristotle - Create an Outline' page.
Step 5
Remove Outline
Applying an outline returns you to the classroom scene and the 'Apply Outline' icon has changed to a 'Remove Outline' icon. Select it if you wish to remove your restrictions from your class.
Note that you will need to start a session for this class for the settings to take effect.
