The icons and menu options in Thrillshare change depending on your editing rights. If you are missing an option needed for following these directions, you may need to request editing rights. You can do that by using the button at the bottom of the page labeled 'Submit a Help Desk Ticket'. Be sure to include a description of where you got stuck and the name of the page you wish to edit.
I've created a 10 minute screencast titled 'Editing a Webpage' as an alternative to the directions below.
Step 2
Select the Page
Note: Your page will look different than the image at the right because the CMS menu will only show what you have been given permission to edit.
A. Select the 'Pages' tab at the left.
B. Use the drop down menu at the top to select the school (or district) where that your page is under.
C. Find the name of the page you wish to edit.
D. Select the pencil icon to the right of that page name to open it.
Step 3
Open Editing
A. Select the purple 'Edit' button at the top right to open the editing options.
Step 4
Edit
A. 'Layout Elements' control how the page is arranged.
B. 'Content Elements' are the text/images on the page.
A webpage can have multiple 'Layout Elements' that each contain multiple 'Content Elements'.
To add a 'Layout' or 'Content' to a page select the box with the 'Element' you want and drag it onto the page in the location you want it to appear. The screen will show icons that indicate where you are placing the 'Element'. Note: A 'Content Element' needs to be placed within a 'Layout Element'.
C. Click on existing text to edit the 'Content Element'. Notice formatting options at the top of the page become highlighted to show they are active.
D. Click on open space around the 'Content Element' to edit the 'Layout Element'. When you do it will show a box that surrounds each of the 'Content Element' pieces you have within that 'Layout Element'.
E. Click and drag the dot-grid to move the 'Element' to a different location.
F. Move your cursor over icons for other options such as duplicating or deleting the 'Element'.
G. Use the 'Undo' button to revert back to the previous changes.
Step 5
Review your Changes
A. Select the 'Preview' button to get to the Preview Screen. Select the icons at the top of the preview screen to see how your page will appear on different sized screens. Review how the different views resize and move the 'Layout Elements' and the 'Content Elements' within each. Consider adding more 'Elements' to your page so that it rearranges in a way that works for all screen sizes. When you are done previewing, select the X at the top left of the Preview Screen to return to the editing page.
B. The edits you make are always being saved as 'My draft'. You can close out of Apptegy at any time and when you return the 'Edit' button (shown above in Step 3) will read 'Edit My Draft' which will allow you to continue editing where you left off. If you would like to delete all the editing you did and return to the last published version of the page you can select the three dots icon in the menu and select the option to 'Discard Draft'.
C. You must select the 'Review changes' button before you can publish your changes. That will show a side by side view of the current version and the 'My draft' version. At the top- right of the review screen you can select the option to 'Edit my draft' or 'Confirm changes' which will publish your changes allowing your changes to become public.
