In Rooms, 'Announcements' refers to one-way information that does not allow for a reply. Directions to send a direct communication that allows a group or individual to reply can be found on the 'Messages' page.
Step 1
Create and Post the Announcement
To open Rooms you will first need to log in to Apptegy. Directions for that can be found on the Apptegy Login page.
To communicate in Rooms you will need to have set up the Class. Directions for that can be found on the Rooms Set Up a Class page.
Tasks 6 on the Apptegy task list or this set of videos created by Apptegy, is an alternative to following the directions below.
A. Select the Rooms icon at the left so the sub-menu under it opens. Your menu may have different options depending your role in the district and the way you set up Rooms.
B. Select the name of the 'Room' you want to message from the sub-menu.
Other than typing your announcement (F) and selecting 'Post Now' (Q) the rest of these directions are optional.
C. Select the 'Feed' tab to see the Feed for that room and options for adding an Announcement to it.
D. See the list of people in the Room that will see your Announcement.
E. Select the three dots icon to edit who is in the Room.
F. Type in your announcement.
G. Use formatting tools to create headings, stylize the font, control paragraphs, and insert links.
H. Select 'Add Attachments' to upload a file by dragging it into the box or selecting a link that allows you to select it from a folder.
I. Select 'Show Advanced Settings' for options to schedule your message to send later or copy the same Announcement to other Rooms.
J. Displays the Announcements sent through this Room and the content sent through a connection to Google Classroom if you've set that up.
K. Select between views of your Announcements and Google Classroom content if you've set that up.
L. Select between showing the 'Current' feed and Announcements you have scheduled.
M. Select 'Materials' to add links or files to your Room. These will remain in a consistent location unlike adding them in an announcement in your feed.
N. Select 'Info' to view and edit information about your class you would like to remain in a consistent location. Common uses may be to provide a general bio of yourself or a class syllabus.
O. Select 'Settings' to 'Unpublish' the Room. Select the 'Configurations' tab to change the class name and color or hide/unhide materials you provided in the Room. Select the 'Integrations' tab to alter the connection to Google Classroom.
Q. When you wish to send the Announcement select 'Post Now'
