Introducing Destination Imagination!

Post date: Oct 06, 2015 5:40:29 PM

We are pleased to announce that the Luxemburg-Casco School District will be piloting a Destination Imagination program this year!

What is Destination Imagination (DI)? DI is an international educational program that uses STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics) to develop 21st-century skills. This creative outlet teaches leadership, problem solving and teamwork while solving one of six open-ended challenges. The solutions to these challenges are presented at a regional tournament in early spring.

DI participants are tested to think on their feet, work as a team and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the challenges. DI participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills—they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.

Who can Participate? Any student in grades 5K-12. Students in grades K-2 can participate in Rising Stars, a non-competitive level of DI that introduces children to the program.

How are teams formed? Each team consists of 2-7 members (Rising Stars can have 10). Each team needs at least one adult Team Manager.

Where can I learn more? Check out the DI website at www.destinationimagination.org
