Diesel Project Update – July 12, 2021

More than $300,000 in monetary and equipment donations have been pledged by roughly 20 local and transportation-based companies to assist in getting the L-C diesel program started.

Ceiling and wall painting has been completed, other than miscellaneous touchups. On the heels of that work, installation of lights and other wall-mounted devices was done last week.

Asphalt patching, mostly around the newly installed ramps, took place on July 8.

The new Diesel and Fabrication Lab will serve more than 20 students who have registered for the Ahnapee Diesel program, beginning this August. It will be the first diesel-only program at the high school level in the state of Wisconsin.

Significant work was completed last month, including installation of the main and back-side overhead garage doors the week of June 7. Other door frames, doors and railings subsequently were put into place. Door handles were added at month’s end.

The biggest item was excavation for the ramp down to the lowered work floor, which took place the week of June 14. Upon completion, concrete was poured for the new ramp following structural fill and compaction.

Prior to the start of the ramp work, an exterior catch basin was installed.

Two exterior makeup air units, which will properly exhaust the rooms, were installed on the rear of the building during the last week of May.

Program partner Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) will be bringing in its welding booth on July 19. Also that week, Plymovent® fume extraction arms are scheduled for installation in the Fabrication Lab.

Siding installation around the new garage doors continues, and is expected to wrap up by the week of July 19. The Simplex fire alarm control panel is being reworked this week.

High Solids Epoxy Sealer will be applied to the recessed concrete slab, along with the adjoining ramp, by the end of this week.

Luxemburg-Casco Diesel and Fabrication Lab takes shape in project’s final month

The new Diesel and Fabrication Lab of the Luxemburg-Casco School District has taken shape within a portion of the district’s former middle school building in Casco. Work on the conversion project, which began in mid-April, now is into its final month.

The project continues to be on schedule and should be finished by the end of July, according to Jason DuChateau, project manager for Zeise Construction. Only a handful of items remain to be completed.
