Students get hands-on work with nationally known composer

Darryl Johnson II at Luxemburg-Casco schools today through Meet-The-Composer program

LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Darryl Johnson II, a nationally known composer based in Southern California, is spending today (March 3) working with students of the Luxemburg-Casco middle and high schools. Johnson has composed a number of film scores during his professional career.

Johnson is in the classroom as part of his Meet-The-Composer program. Through the program, he works with students on the music, discusses composition to provide a direct perspective into the creative process and answers questions. Johnson then returns next Tuesday night (March 7) to conduct the schools’ public musical performances.

Media are invited to cover today’s hands-on work with Johnson. He is spending time with students from 8-9:15 a.m., 9:30-11 a.m. and 12:15-1:30 p.m. All three sessions are being held in the main auditorium of Luxemburg-Casco High School, located at 512 Center Dr. in Luxemburg, Wis.

Both Johnson and Tim Bahn, L-C band director, will be available for interviews.
